lol, maybe. My point is that none of this is new or shocking. Agree? We've been here before, but we have alarmists freaking out like its something totally surprising and I call bullshit on the alarmism. CA has wet and dry periods, some lasting longer than others. Nothing new here. It will get better.

Also, when did you jack Mayne's avatar? Is that Mayne inspired?

I'm not old enough to remember CA's earlier droughts, but I'm young enough to read statistics (and see pictures) which proclaim we are in dire straights.

I jacked his avatar during one of his periods of epic trolling; was planning on going tit-for-tat with his trolls but he ended up getting banned and I was too lazy to change my avatar back.

And what's this I hear Americans use 320 gallons a day per household. Is that true?

average person uses 80-100 gal/day according to http://water.usgs.gov/edu/qa-home-percapita.html ... so maybe 320 gallons for a family of 4?

it's not as if that water is blasted off into space... it gets cycled back into the environment; the problem is that it's not necessarily going to fall where it's needed (eg: California water could evaporate into the atmosphere and then fall as rain somewhere over the Pacific or up in Oregon)

yea that sucks. I think we had the mildest summer ever in the history of Chicago summers. Also, its been the rainiest ive ever seen, almost every day rain.

Time to build more dams ready for when it does rain, no harm in being ready for it, for once.

Do you understand my bad attitude toward alarmism though? People always crying wolf and no wolf ever shows. Always exaggerating etc. Mostly for ratings or just because they are bored and want to cause a stir. Honestly, I feel this is no different from any other drought. I'm only 35 and this is not my first CA drought. It won't be my last.

CA doubled its population since the last major drought. That's something to be alarmed about, our bad policy.

Wonder if you can get a nice used fresh water boat for cheap in CA? Shipping cost would kill any savings though.

We may be facing a serious boating bubble in CA. You may soon find killer deals on all things boating related as people trade their water toys for quads and dirt bikes.

The drought is focused on CA. Basically there have been no El Ninos since 2010. Without that their winter does not give them the snowpack they need.

This drier condition is expected to persist for the next 25-30 years, with more La Ninas and fewer El Ninos.
Considering it's never predictable and on a 3-7 year cycle that's perfectly normal. Right? I want to say the longer dry cycles are closer to 10 years.
