California Comm Colleges cutting a semester?

Rumor is that Cali's community colleges are going to have to slash the fall semester, because the budget shortage. Apparently they're going to reroute the funds to the CSUs? I heard this from a friend at College of the Redwoods last night, can anyone confirm?

I would doubt they are going to do that. You will likely have fewer classes and larger classes sizes.
It is common threat for politicians to fire cops, teachers and prison guards when the budget gets tight.

Dude, where are you living? At home (NC) they are firing cops, teachers, and prison guards . . . granted they often use the terms "layoff" or "employment reduction by attrition and early retirement". The situation is far more dire in CA.

In my area Jr. College is in great shape.. Mira Costa College (Junior College) pays significantly more to its staff than say Palomar College.. it is all to do with the property tax rate differential... poor areas... if there is such a place.. here.. lets say relatively less affluent... places have less tax $ per unit.. and similar quantity of units..

The Redwood area may be hurting and may need to do as you've been informed... it is not a universal California issue..

Don't you all just love how politicians love to say schools and figherfighers must go first..
