California has nothing but problems... riots, droughts, power outages, high gas prices... when are they going to fall into the damned ocean already?

Great Lakes are direct north west of where I am.... don't complain about rain. When it rains here (and often), its usually a T-storm :|

23 out of the 30 days in June, Houston recorded rain. We had more rain in June than Seattle did.

Now, I'm just waiting for the Californians to blame us Texans for taking their rain.

It's that damned song "It never rains in southern california". They got a f'ing injunction placed on rain! That's why there's a huge aquaduct going from Nor Cal to LA. (did you know that someone living 5 miles from the source of the water pays more than someone living 450 miles from it?)

Atleast California doesn't get many hurricanes and tornados.

We also have great winters over here. Riverside had a record low of 39 F one night, with what I would think the average was more like about 40 for the low and about 80 for the high. I have a sister who lives in Maine and she was dealing with HIGHS of -2 sometimes...

But then again, So Cal can't handle any weather other than sunny and dry. When we get rain the news starts calling it "Storm Watch!" and we get 1-3 inches over the span of a day...

I almost wouldn't mind some rain. Dry heat is a bitch during the summertime in SoCal, especially when you live inland. :(

At least I can go swimming when I get home from work, I have air conditioning and it's not humid. :D

Smog
crime

poisonus animals
earthquakes

yep sound great to me :D

Funny, I thought (by area) NY had more of the first three. And as far as heat, that varies by location. In SF it's f'ing hot when it his 80. Swimming in Lake Tahoe doesn't happen, it'll freeze your nads.

I don't think it's rained here since sometime in May, and usually doesn't start again until sometime in August. And even then we rarely get over an inch in those months until Oct/Nov.
