Calibration Area Full?

I get the error "calibration area full" in both Nero and Easy CD Creator when trying to burn cds. Also, anyone got any suggestions on some good burning software, thanks.

Just a guess... but are you trying to use "audio" cd's to record on? (They're meant for stand alone recorders). Also, have you tried another brand or type of cdr?

This error means that the writer was unable to make a good recording on the disc. Before it starts recording, the writer tests the effect of different laser powers on the disc, to find the optimum recording power.

This error means that the writer tried so many times that it filled the 'calibration area' of the disc with trial runs, and was unable to make a satisfactory recording.

There are 2 causes for this error:
1) The blanks are of poor quality or are incompatible with your writer, or you are trying to record at too high a speed.
2) The writer has broken and is no longer able to record.

Before you toss the drive, try using a lens cleaner cd. This fixed a Plextor drive I had that was producing burn errors.
