Is a professional calibration really worth it? I have never tweaked mine, using out of the box settings and it looks good to me. I was told to pick up an Avia dvd to use. How much of a gain can one honestly expect from a calibration?
 
if you have a crt projection based system it can make a huge difference, DLP and LCD tvs dont really gain any benefit as they come calibraited. the crt's need to be adjusted because the aim of the bulbs can shift when moving and cause alignment issues in the picture causing a fuzzy picture to occur
