It's that time again

Some area called the Geysers.

Instead of handing out a bunch of infractions to the OP and those responding I'm just going to lock this thread.

End of the world is going to be May 21, 2011. Is this 6 earthquake going to usher in the major disaster to follow?

Will you claim you were right if a 5.0 earthquake hits Chile 3 months from now?

If Dave's earthquake predictions are as good as his gas ones, it'll be later than sooner or not at all.

Last time you cried wolf with a major earthquake prediction, nothing happened.

I'm too lazy to find that thread, but it featured some amusing backpedaling and claims that minor earthquakes (that happen daily) proved you right.

You were right about the vinegar purchase restrictions and $5 a gallon gas though.

If I could only get all six lottery numbers again but actually have ticket.

I hit twice but didn't buy tickets that week.

Missed out on 6 million first time it happened in New York and $200 million when I was in Atlanta.

Hopefully there will be a third time charm.

Seriously, shut it.

You're predicting an earthquake in an area that is a hotbed of volcanic activity, and yet also conveniently located near the San Andreas? What next, are you going to predict a hurricane will strike Florida in the summer?

Or that a mini earthquake "swarm" was there in 2009?

The area is 2 hours away from Sacramento. 2 hours north of San Francisco. If an earthquake is epicentered there, the biggest worry would be to the geothermal energy production from that area, as it provides electricity to many of the nearby regions. California won't fall off into the ocean.

So, which animal whispered this nugget of information into your ear?

Or did you read about all the geothermal power plants in the area, and decided they're bad, and thinks it deserves an earthquake? That the existence of the various plants mostly controlled by one company is horrible and you need to predict an earthquake to knock them all offline, knock out power to a part of the state, the people will rebel, and you'll be proven awesome?

Or you think the plants alone will create an earthquake of a 6.0 magnitude by their presence? It's not close enough to a major fault that the increase in seismic activity in the area will "cause" a larger quake to happen.

It's all lunacy.

We live in California. We accept the risk a major earthquake will happen. People take precautions in case of emergency. There's nothing else we can do. Stop screaming about an earthquake. There is NO WAY to predict an earthquake.

There is a lot of ongoing research into that so perhaps in the future we will be able to. For now we have that noted Doctor of Geophysics, Dave the nutcase to satisfy all our earthquake prediction needs. Oh and he can do winning lottery numbers too, he just chooses not to buy tickets the weeks he picks the winning numbers.

The only person I see here screaming is you.

Little edgy eh?

You prepared as you say you are?
