Calculator Poll

time to look for a financial calculator for my class

though, I have never owned a graphing calculator and don't know how to use one. 😀

Used to have a Ti85 in High School for Geometry, Calculas AP, and Physics AP. Used it in College for 2 years as well.
Since I dropped out of college, My brother borrowed the calculator (without permission), and then he lost it.

I currently do not use calculators very much since I am perfectly capable of performing math operations without one.
When I do want a calculator, I'll just use an Xf86 calc, or win32 calc on a PC.

TI-89 and Casio MS-115 Plus (the dual-line scientific that can solve equations, plug and chug, derive, and integrate!).

A good scientific can do so much for you that it's amazing.

Casio Algebra FX 2.0 Plus (Graphical)
Casio FX-50F (Scientific) <- most popular highschool calculator in HK because of many built in functions such as quadratic equation solution. But the production has been suspended

was it banned from HKCEE? I used to own a casio. well, I never learn how to do those equation on the scientific calculator. 🙁

For basic use, does the Ti 84 +/84 + silver have any real advantage over the 83 +. I'm CS major and just need something to speed up some calculations for stats class.

thanks for the help.

TI-89 titanium>*

I have yet to see any limit to the archive memory
also, if for whatever reason, the built-in functions do not serve your purposes, you can find a program that will do it for you.

If you're a business major I would suggest a finance calculator. A graphing calculator will just have options you will never use.

I would not buy either the 83 or 84. The 89 is so much more powerful.
