I sold stock on June of 2007 but on my statement it says "Insufficient Data". So I went online to my broker's website and have all the transactions printed. But what do I do to calculate the cost basis manually?

I know how much I sold the stock for but I don't know how much I bought them for. So I have to calculate the price I bought them for. I buy stock bi-weekly so the price is not the same.

Thank you.

You have all the dates when you bought shares, and the number of shares purchased each time, but not what you paid? Use finance.yahoo.com to look up the historical prices for each date you purchased shares, put them in a spreadsheet, and calculate your total cost. No other way to do it that I know of.

Jan 2, 2007: purchased 10 shares at $8.00 = total cost $80.
Jan 16, 2007: purchased 10 shares at $8.20 = total cost $82.
etc.,etc.

Add them up, you have your total cost.

Don't forget to count any reinvested dividends - that reduces your cost basis.
