As I understand, the CY-manifolds are the higher dimensions of the multiverse containing our universe. At least this is what I'm using them as in my novel.

Am I right?

CY-Manifold is the higher dimensional multiverse which contains our universe. I also put a spin on it and called it the 'nursery of universes' i.e the birthplace of creation itself.

In my novel, technology makes it possible to create something out of nothing in the CY-manifold. Also there are infinite-multiple universes in this manifold i.e parallel universes.

Are my assumptions completely wrong about the CY-Manifolds or will they pass muster in a novel?

As I recall, it's been suggested that the additional dimensions required by string theory are somehow tightly tied into CY-manifolds that are effectively undetectible. If you haven't read "The Elegent Universe", you should. It discusses CY-manifolds (and made my head hurt). It also describes M-theory and branes(?) where multiple universes coexist on what amount to subsets of dimensions.

I think you'll find enough wiggle room in M-theory to make your plot work. It might be interesting to "create something out of nothing" by importing it from a different brane.

Good luck!

CY manifolds are highly compacted forms of higher dimensions, since if we have 10 dimension such as in M-Theory we have to explain where the other 6 disappeared to. In order for someone to extract anything from a CY manifold it would first need to be expanded; the manifold would need to be "unfurled" so to speak to make the moduli spaces accessible in our 4 dimensions. Or possibly you could have a massive number of a single CY variety all exhibiting some sort of group mirror symmetry? It may be that CY manifolds would have to be polarized as well to exhibit rational properties in our space-time.

Anyway, good luck with your novel.
