Previously seen in Super Bowl ads, the new Cadillac XLR-V will alight on the stage at the New York Auto Show, stuffed to the gills with a 4.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine and 440 horsepower. The V-Series version of Caddy's hardtop roadster gets not only the new supercharged Northstar engine, and a 0-60 mph time of less than 5.0 seconds, it also gets the first rear-drive application of GM's new six-speed automatic transmission. The XLR-V also wears a wire-mesh grille, 19-inch 10-spoke wheels, and ebony and aluminum trim in the cabin. Bigger brakes and a recalibrated Magnetic Ride Control are also included. The XLR-V, Cadillac says, is the most powerful Cadillac ever produced.

hmm, GM using the Northstar, i wonder how smooth it will be. all of their other engines are cheaper than the northstar, so this car is gunna be an INSANE amount

mmm, can't wait to see one of those around here...I'd like to hear what the engine sounds like, among other things.

probably did, this is just the V version, like the CTS-V, and STS-V there was an XLR, before this XLR-V

Syringer, what are you getting at? i was referring to the fact that they used a costly, and weighty engine in it, when they coulda done like dodge is doing and throw the LS1 in it.

That made it sound like someone other than GM has been using the Northstar, and that GM is just "borrowing" it or something..

but i just want to know what its gunna be like, compared to the LS1 in this application, i know the Northstar is a highperformance engine, but is also very smooth, id like to know what it is like in this application in comparison to the LS1.

and why they chose it, other than the fact that its a cadillac

Pretty sweet. I didn't think I'd be saying that about a caddy, until I drove the XLR on an auto-x track. Reasonably nice vehicle, though overpriced, IMHO.
