Caddy goes extra miles for XLR; vehicle set to compete with M-B SL500

if they wanted to compete with the SC430 they shouldn't have made it so good looking.

"Customers in this segment want to be seen. When they go somewhere, they want to be noticed," Leone says. "The very distinctive styling of the XLR is something that appeals to many of the Mercedes owners and a good deal of Jaguar owners as well."

I'll repeat it once again..$75-85 thousand for around a 14.5-15 second quarter mile???
I bet 99% of the buyers of this car (or others in this segment) don't give a rat's ass what the quarter-mile time is. Most wouldn't care about the 0 to 60 times either. As long as they see 300+ horsepower (which, incidentally, is more than what MB offers in the SL500) they will be happy...

It's actually a very nice car. And while I think that both the Lexus and MB look better (the Lexus must be seen in person to be appreciated), I'd recommend it to someone looking around in that price range. Caddy is trying to go for a sportier image, so at least they're providing the vehicles to get there.

BTW, Car & Driver liked it, and I'd trust them over just about any other auto magazine on the market. They have my tastes in mind, which is a good thing for me.

Not all cars are built for speed and definately not a fast 1/4 time.

Some people care about luxory and ride quality and security blah blah blah. I'm sure the car is fast enough. Quarter mile isn't everything about performance and if the car is fast but can't turn its no good racing.

These people want to stick a set of golf clubs in the car and for it to look nice. Nice ride and nice everything else.

No serious racer is even going to bother and look at this.

Looks alright. Looks like an SL fro the back.
