Is there a way to take a CAD image with the standard Top, Front, Side views to import or export to a 3D type jpg ?

I'm a newb to this kind of stuff. :)

Thanks in advance,

Do you mean appear 3D? You can't make true 3D from 2D with adding additional views.

Usually thats kinda tricky todo, but if youre using AutoCad you can use your 2D .DWG files in the 3D program Inventor and make a 3D Object.

Um riiight.....

Let me tell you this, Im a CAD Consultant and have worked with both quite a bit, but youre seem to be the expert and im not gonna start a flame fight since you put a :p after the comment.
Im not saying any program is better than the other, they all have pros and cons, if I would choose one I would take pro ENGINEER but thats only beacuse I know and have worked with that program most.

normal autocad does 3d modeling. you dont need inventor, or solidworks, or pro /e.

those are all parametric based modelers. i dont think this guy needs anything that complicated just to get a 3d view of 1 object.

on this system im on now i have all legally installed: acad mechanical 6, solidworks 2001 and pro e 2001

and i just got my solidworks 2001 plus cd's in the mail. i havnt touched em yet tho.

True true, all I was saying was that its pretty easy to convert .DWG files using Inventor, it comes down to what program the object was made in the first place.
JonnyBlaze, thats quite impressing having bought those programs, what do you do for a living, it seems like Iwe got the wrong job (and salary) :).

And jonMEGA: How complicated is this thing of yours, I can do it in pro E if ya want and send you to it made in 3D and the file has a viewer built in so you can watch it on the puter and spin it real time.

Thanks for all the help guys. My friend asked me if I could make him one and I told him I would try, but now he call and told me he doesnt need it done any more.

Nevertheless for the future I would like to know how to do this......

my company is the one that bought them. and the crazy part is we dont even use them except to convert customers files. we use autocad primarily.

the customers want to be able to just send their native (pro/e or solidworks) and we convert to iges and do what we gotta do in acad.

i still have yet to lean pro e well enuff to be productive with it. for what i do for work, its overkill i think. we machine single pieces. we dont with with big assy's.
