Cactus, the fruit.

I found out the store near by carries some decent cactus, so I buy it every now and then. But everyone I talk to either never had it, or does not like it. I don't really get why, maybe the little seeds have something to do with it... but it taste awesome IMO.
Thoughts?

Mexican markets around here always have it ( DFW area ).

I've never tried it though.

Are you talking about prickly pear fruits (tunas)? Jelly? Something else? We've made prickly pear jelly before, it was okay but not too flavorful.

Yep, that's them. We use the pads (nopolitos) in green chile but generally leave the fruits to the critters for the reason stated above.

One of my neighbors makes a empanadas with it in it, and it is very good. Exotic, and not to sweet.
