Hey... Just wondering, is Cacheman really worth installing on your rig if you have 1GB of Ram (PC2700) w/Win2KPro? I have been trying to eliminate some unneeded, and unneccesary apps on my rig that take up resources, and I am not sure it this utility helps out that much when you have over 512MB of ram?

Any thoughts?

P.S. - For those of you that do not know about Cacheman, it is a utility that "improves" the performance of your rig by optimizing disk cache and memory resources.

I use Cacheman on my system with 1GB of RAM. To be honest with you, I really can't tell a difference using the disk cache and memory settings before and after Cacheman.

However, it does have alot of settings that can be quickly changed to make the system run more optimized.

I would suspect that W2k is smart enough to manage its caches properly on its own.

I used to use it with my Windows 9x computers and it made a noticable difference. With the NT-based systems, it's not necessary anymore.

Yea, when 9x didn't clean up, you could use it to at least force the memleakers to pagefile and out of physical ram, but beyond that you don't gaim much.
