I have a laptop that has 512 MB of PC2700 memory. The cache latency is 2.5-33-8 1CMD. I added PNY PC2700 with a latency of 2.5-4-3-8 1CMD. The latency is measured using Sandra. Using Sandra, the cache and memory benchmark decreased by about 10% after dding the memory. There were very minor increases in arithmetic benchmark and file system benchmark. SETI analysis times do ot appear to have increased, still around 3.5 hrs. Are these differences even slightly significant in the "real world "?
Has anyone found a supplier that specs memory out to the four values? Crucial does spec some memory in this manner. Many do not even post latency values.
I am not oc'ing the lap top. I am only interested in getting memory that is`equal to the factory installed memory. I hope to get this match without having to deal with returns. My thanks to all for the help!😕
