**Possibly limited to the Tri-State Area where cablevision provides digital cable service.... I'm getting this promotion in Hudson County

So I called up Cablevision and found out about this new "we want you back deal" for current satellite subscribers. Basically, you provide them with a sat. bill (DirectTV, Dish NEtwork, etc._and sign up for Digital IO cable (silver package), The cable modem service(OptOnline), and the new phone service Opt. Voice and you can have each for $9.99 a month for a year. That comes to $30 a month for TV, Internet and phone. Not bad if you ask me.

So here is the math:
Digital Cable TV - $9.99
Optimum Online Cable modem - $9.99
Optimum Voice - $9.99
----------------------------------------------
Grand total for telephone bill, digital cable and internet: $30/month - $360/year
----------------------------------------------

Not a bad deal plus it all shows up on one bill. Also, Optvoice has free nationwide calling, caller id, unlimited *69, 3 way calling, call waiting... but I don't think u can keep your number. Also, no 411 on their phone service yet and no incoming collect calls.

yeah so... never had any hotdeals to report on but was always a big fan of searching for "free" in this forum. :-D

and that is my X-mas wish list too except I'll wait for the new apple displays to drop soon (heard there is gonna be a thirty inch!) and I want an iSight and 40gb ipod too.

Too bad CV won't do anything special for their long and loyal customers. Currently paying about just under $150/month for digital cable and cable modem. I could say a few choice words...

I frequent plenty of boards where I'm only interested in one or two sections. I'm pretty sure my first post here was in Hot Deals too, though I started frequenting other sections quite a while back. On a related side note, it always bothers me when everyone compains about OT posts. On most sites I never read OT, so I would otherwise miss those informative OT posts.

Actually, my parents had cablevision so what I did was I set it up under my mom's name who had got the dish bill and had it set up in my apt while we cancelled the other account which was in my uncles name for some wierd reason. Cablevision billing dept is the worst...

Yeah, cablevision billing department is horrible. But this deal is hot. So you can't have any of these services beforehand? After a year, do they charge full price on everything?

And I'm sure that after the year is up your rates get jacked through the roof I'm sure. Kinda cools down the deal a bit if you ask me :p

Not necessarily. You can switch to other provider (some other hot deal that requires current cable service) after one year. It is hassle of course but once in 12 months is not that bad and resulting saving is substantial, around $90-$100 a month.

I just called Cablevision up, they told me that the entire package would cost me $99.99 per month for 1 year.

it's still cheaper than all of them combined.

Optimum Online: $ 49.99
IO Silver Package: $64.95
Opt. Voice: $34.95

Total: $149.89

that's $50 a month you're saving and they said you're not bound to a contract so after a year you can cancel your service.

Comcast has a similar promo called "Ditch the Dish"; it's not as good as this one, but if you're able to swing it along with the $19.99 per month HSI deal like I did, you'll save a nice chunk of change. That links says it ended in September, but I've heard some people say that it's still active when you call in. YMMV.

I saw the "ditch the dish" deal with comcast, unfortunately, my area is not serviced by comcast yet.

I called and they told me the "we want you back deal" was 99/month for all three, not 30. Anyway, they don't have the Optimum Voice in my area of Jersey (mercer county) but they did give me the optonline for 29.95/month for 6 months and 49 after that -- without any other cable tv service ( I have dishnetwork).
