cablecard readers available?

Does anyone know when cablecard readers are going to be available? I read an article 2 years ago but lost interest in following the release. I cannot seem to find anything out there.

Yes, they're available. You might be able to get one installed from your cable company, but YMMV. And you'll need a tuner...I understand ATI makes one, but I remember reading in MaxPC that it never worked.

You might instead just have to buy the machine. Call your cable company for your options.

But otherwise, don't bother looking for one in a box, they don't exist.

Yes, ATI does make the OCUR. It's very expensive, but you get a free PC with it. :thumbsup:

Or...if you want to look at it differently, you can't buy a CableCard reader apart from a PC.
