cable vs dish

i have time warner and will be getting hdtv soon(and will need dvr). i had dish before(directv) and always had great service and good programming. cable from what i can tell is more expensive, plus doesnt have the selection directv had. my neighbor told me cable is better because the hd dish's tend to not have as good quality as cable due to the artifacting/compression that takes place? i thought once you go hd on dish you dont see that anymore?

I have Dish Network and have only experienced artifacts a few times during heavy rain, and never on HD channels.

Thing I hate about DISH though is you have to have a receiver at every TV.

The picture on my friend's Comcast is crappy, IMO....at least on the Non-HD stations.

I'll take my Direct TV over cable any day for Non-HD. I don't have any real HD experience, though.

DirecTV is pretty good, and it only goes out in really severe storms. I had a bunch of problems with DirecTV early on when I first got it, but i'ts gotten a whole lot better since then... definitely my reccomendation.

Not anymore, you don't. I just got a receiver that will work on two TV's, tho I don't have a second one ATM.
Dual DVR rocks.

It'll depend on who the cable provider is in your area. I have DISH network and find it to be a ton better than my brother's Comcast cable. It's much cheaper, has more channels, and I very rarely have quality/reception issues.

same.

i can only connect to 4 tv's. also i have 2 dual dishes so when i get HDTV nto sure what i will do.

but i have not had ANY trouble with dish network and had it with comcast a few times. saying that i would go back to comcast if i could.

neighbors have dish TV and if it storms they tend to lose signal. Like it is getting bad out so they turn the weather channel on to see how it is doing and the TV looked like the weather outside 😛

Do the satellite providers still do HD-Lite for HDTV service? That's one area where cable might have the advantage due to the increased available bandwidth.

Yes, they do.

TWC's HD PQ > Any Dish

Other things might be debatable, but TWC's HD PQ isn't.
