Cable TV over a wireless network?

So here is the issue-

I moved into an apt. and didn't look around at cable hookups. Well, the apt. only has one cable hookup downstairs. Is there ANY way to transmit cable TV upstairs? I have an extra PC I can stick downstairs to capture the signal if necessary. Also, if I did this, it would mean I'd have to put a second splitter onto one cable jack. If anyone knows, would that significantly degrade the other two signals?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, it seemed I could probably have stuck this in a few others.

You could put a TV-tuner in your PC, hook it up to the cable source, then use Windows Media Center with a Media Center Extender to stream it upstairs. I recommend wireless N if you are going wireless.

XBox 360 is a Media Center Extender if you have one.

A single splitter shouldn't cause any noticeable signal degradation, I've used several splitters in my home and never noticed any problems. I'm pretty confident that the best thing to do would be to talk to the apt manager and get permission to install a jack upstairs, or have one installed if you don't have the tools and knowledge to do so. If wireless CATV repeaters were reliable there would be a lot more of them for sale at wal-mart.
