Cable TV out, but cable modem still works??

Right now, I'd rather have the modem out, so I could watch my Dawgs destroy ASU!

Hmm...are you currently subscribed to TV service? If you are, then comcast may have inadvertanly put on a video blocking filter on your cable line that would block the TV portion, but not the cable modem part. If you were getting "Free" cable TV with your cable modem and they filtered it, then that's nothing to be worried about.
