Cable TV help?

I have one functional cable running into my apartment.

Right now I have it hooked to a TV, but recently I've just got a TV Tuner card.

If I were to attach a 2-way splitter and connect one output for the TV and another output for the TV Tuner, would it work? Would I be able to watch 2 different channels at once?

Since the signal would be split into two, is an signal amp warranted?

TIA

yes, it'd work fine. It's not till you're getting a lot of tv's in there that you need an amplifier, like 10 tv's or so. Just splitting to 2 cables you'll be fine. And you'll get all the channels on both.

another question about cable TVs.

I noticed that HBO has some movies in 5.1 DD.

I do have 5.1 DTS DD setup. (so far only used for DVDS).

how would I use that feature from the cable?

cable goes to video which does not have coax nor optical.

it only has Stereo RCA plugs coming out. If i plug it up to the receiver and choose DD/ DTS, would it work?

or does it only work with Digital input?

thanx.

No one mentioned if I would be able to watch two *different* channels at once?

I thought I did. With cable, as long as you're getting a signal you can watch different channels on all the separate TV's that you're splitting the cable to.

splitter works great for 3 tv's in my house.

I do recommand higher quality spliiter however. Cheaper ones (or ones without shielding) seems to cause intereference with lower channels.

good luck 🙂

Your converter would need some sort of Dolby Digital output.
That's what lacking in my digital converter.
I'm going to Dish that has Digital out built into it. 100% digital baby.
