If you have WOW ! service in your area, they currently have a package deal for cable TV access (70 channels) + 4Mb/s cable internet service for only $70 a month. HBO is an additional $10. Considering my Warner cable TV now costs $64/month (only one package with Speed channel available ... :disgust: ) , I sure wish I hadn't done my DSL deal through Dell.

doesnt sound like much of a deal. comcast here has a similar package for $60/month (REGULAR PRICE) which includes 70 channels + 3Mbps cable internet service.
for promotional packages, u can get it as low as $30/month which includes both mentioned items.

Had Cablevision/OO installed in a relative's home yesterday. Switched from DirecTv.
140 channels + one digital box on one set, basic 70+ channels on all additional sets (total of four. five including the digital). Tested broadband connection twice (once during the day, once during "prime time") : 9Mbit down/768K up. Knoppix image took roughly 8 minutes.
Cost : $74.19 per month, for all listed above.

I don't think 70+ channels COME free with your comcrap Broadband. BTW, I hear that most of the time you will never see the 3Mps not because most places online will not stream it to you but because they are stealing the bandwidth for digital cable. So, the more people that order digital cable the worse off your connection will be. Gives a whole new meaning to sharing the pipe...
Your are only suppose to get the Basic for 5 bucks more that they charge everyone regardless if you wanted the analog feed or not.
If you are paying 80.00 it's because the bill basically is like this...
(50 bucks for hispeed internet cable) + (5 for basic 12 channels(+25 for extended) I always thought it was more like 90 bucks? But maybe if you oder the broadband from them they give you a break?
Also, it's only 300bps up. I wonder what wow upsteam is?

And you can get the 2Mb/s cable service with cable TV for $59.99! (it's analog cable BTW. The cost of digital WOW service is higher, although their digital packages all include the "Starz Super Pak"

I have the 4Mb/s package and my upload speeds are 512 Kb/s. By the way, this is not an introductory price it is their regular price.
I was paying $60 for the 70 channel analog/4Mbps before I went digital.. now it's a little closer to 80 for the 4Mbps and 3 digital cable boxes.
It looks like the analog package doesn't come with boxes at all. Is this true? I'm curious because with my current TWC setup, I can only get HBO on the TV with the box. The other TVs I've got hooked up (with no boxes) can get all the other channels, but not HBO. Would WOW allow me to get HBO without a box?
Also, was there a noticeable difference between the analog and digital picture? A year ago we had Analog here and then last year we got digital and I don't think I can tell any difference in the image.

WOW gives you an analog box with all of their analog plans. I never hooked it up when we had it. I'd imagine HBO would work the same way, it would need the box to descramble the premium channel. As far as picture quality goes, all of the lower channels (under 100) look exactly the same as they do on an analog box (or no box at all). The digital cable box just passes them through. The only benefit on the lower channels is the guide and the "info" button that tells what's on each channel. However, the digital channels all look superb, especially with the box plugged into the set on S-video.
i dont know how comcast operates in your town, but in the bay area and many other places, it's $43/month for internet + $15/month for cable tv. comes out to a bit shy of $60. THESE ARE REGULAR PRICES. NO PROMOTIONS. NADA. Maybe because AT&T's most basic cable had 70 channels before, so comcast never bother changing that (since comcast and at&t broadband merged).
as for download and upload, i get a consistent ~350kB/s (3Mbps) download and 30kB/s (256kbps) upload throughout any part of the day.
