Cable Television on a TV Tuner

I have Charter Cable tv. They gave me a cable box that is connected to a tv in my living room. I recently bought the Leadtek Winfast "Deluxe" TV2000XP TV/FM Tuner. The problem is I can't use a splitter and connect the tuner to the cable box (because of the distance). And I don't really want to use the remote that came with the cable box to change channels on my computer. Is there anyway that I can make it so that I only need to plug in a cable cord directly from the wall in my room into the tuner without the cable box? Does anybody have any experience with this? Thanks!

If you have regular analog cable, then plugging the cable from the wall directly to your card should work perfectly.

If you have digital cable, then it's most likely you will have to use the box.

I have digital cable, and I attached a splitter right at the jack. One cable goes to my cable box and TV, while the other goes to my TV Tuner. What happens is that I just get regular analog cable (ie, only channels 1-100) on the tuner, while I get digital on the box.

Yep, I was just about to say this. If you want to be able to get "all" the channels, you will need to go through the cable box and then go into the tv tuner (supposedly channel 3 or 4 will show what is comming from the cable box) and then change channels on the cable box.
