Cable Snakes for XLR...

I really hope this forum can answer this one.

Okay, this is a semi simple question, just need a yes or no.

I *might* have to run my own snake for an auditorium setting. The distance will not exceed 150 FT. I would like to permanently run this cable in the ceiling, which means it must be plenum.

Am I correct to assume that I can use the drains as Pin 1 in the XLR and I could get 12 channels of balanced audio out of this cable?

You can only use the shield as ground if there is a "drain wire" running with it, otherwise you have nothing to solder to the XLR connector.
