a question,,I dunno what the cable select on the hd is good for,,when can I use it?
slave and master,ok,but what is cable select good for?
 
Check here for an explanation. The main idea was to make hard drives kinda`plug-n-pray`. A special cable is needed, along with drives supporting the feature....... Its so easy to set master/slave config, I see no reason to bother with CSEL....
 
I recommend using Master/Slave instead of Cable Select as well. It's also a good idea to write with a pencil on the side of the bracket that holds the respective drive the drive letter and whether it's master or slave. This can be especially helpful when you have a memory like mine and you're running more than one CD drive and two or more physical hard drives.
