Is this why I couldn't get my TV-Tuner to work on the same line as my Cable Modem was on? I tried switching lines but maybe that wasn't enough...

This thread should belong in General Hardware by the way.

you have to pay for the TV part to get the TV part, if you are only paying for internet service, you don't get TV for free

if you plugged your internet only cable into your TV-Tuner, you didn't get TV because you aren't paying for TV service

if you pay for cable TV and cable internet, then you can do both
