Cable on a PC

Hi, I bought cable tv (http://www.optimum.com/online/)

I wanted them to connect it to my tv card, which they did. But they said they can't help me to get it to work, and that I have to call tech support. I called tech support, and they told me I have to call the people who sold me the computer. The people who sold me the computer said I have to call the cable company.

Long story short, I have cable but no way of watching it. I'm trying to watch cable directly on my computer. Does anyone here know how to do that?

You will need to provide a bit more info, like what OS are you running? The make and model of the TV card? What have you done/tried so far?

Did you order Optimum Online (uses Ethernet or USB connection) which is their Internet over Cable service or Optimum iO cable TV service (uses coaxial cable connection)? Their service is digital, so you'll need a TV card that supports digital cable tuning (does NOT come standard with any but the most recent multimedia PCs) - most TV cards still support only analog cable. Another option if your card is analog is to run the cable from your digital tuner box and just tune your card to whichever channel your cable box uses for analog output. No HD with that method - you'll need a card that supports both digital in AND HD out for that.
