Cable Modems - Pinging default gateway with MTU?

People with cable modems, if you ping your default gateway with the MTU how many milliseconds does it take on avg? Just wondering because my cable modem sux and I am trying to get some info together to email to the cable ISP about it. Thanks for your help.
