cable modem ?

finally i will be getting cable in my area........... what cable modem r u guys using, what brand and any suggestions.

What service will you be using? If it's Road Runner they'll provide it. I'm not sure I would put the money out of my pocket to buy one with the way technogy is changing. If you turn around and change over to something else a year from now, you'll never make the money out of your modem.

It was my understanding that all cable modems now were using a universal protocol and that they would work with any cable service.

that isn't true, just wait and see what the cable company will provide, like already said, it really isn't worth buying a cable modem now.
