I have a D-Link DCM-200, and the only way I can connect to the internet is through the USB port. For as long as I can remember, I've had it hooked up to my Linksys router and everything works fine. Then out of the blue, it stops working.

So, I go through the usual resets and such, but it still won't connect. The STATUS LED stays green, but the LINK LED flashes green, so it's my end, right? I try different ethernet cables, but to no avail. I even try bypassing my router altogether, and hook up my modem straight to my computer, but the LINK LED doesn't even light up anymore? Anyways, I doubted it was my cables or cards, because my 2 computers and can still talk over the router.

I tried calling the cable company, and they said it's my outgoing port on my cable modem that is messed up. Probably from a recent storm. Strange that in between the times I've used my computer there hasn't been any storms..

Another thing is under Windows XP, my network connections show that my Internet is disabled. I try enabling it, so it pop ups a window that it's connected, then the status doesn't change from being disabled.

So, the question is my cable modem really fritzed in the ethernet port? Any input would be appreciated.. thanks in advance.. :D

Try reseting your modem back to factury defaults (check manual or go online). Net try hooking it up to another computer to see if it works (make sure you renew IP and reboot). Try powercycling your modem, this time for over 5 minutes(grabing here).

Ask the cable company to come check your lines. Storm might of damaged the filter...?

Good luck,
