Cable Modem Woes!

On my friends computer, all of the sudden ALL the lights started flashing orange on his cable modem (@Home if it matters).

I disconnected the cable from the modem, to see if it's the modem and the online light turned green and the others stopped flashing. So I think this rules out the modem.

I tried a different NIC, same result. Any ideas guys? @Home people won't be there for a week, and that's a LONG time to be without internet access for him...

I hope you didn't kill the power to the modem while it was trying to flash new firmware to itself...

Nope, it was sitting there idle for a day (And my friend took it upon himself to go get a new modem too, so I don't think that was the problem).

if your friend got a new modem it won't work cause @home has to register the MAC address of the modem

all the lights turning orange for an RCA cable modem is a sign that it is updating the firmware
