i just signed up for the local cable modem service..unfortunately, whenever i try to download from napster or mp3.com, i get hosed and must reboot to resume surfing. any insights??
 
The provider is Cablevison but I think they go by the name of Optimum Online. The modem is a DOCSIS-compliant 3Com modem. Would old cable wiring be the culprit?
 
I just got a cable modem and I have brand spanking new wiring through out the neighborhood and the installer said the levels were excellent and I have trouble sometimes with it losing conection to the network. I just unplug the modem and let it reconect to the network after a minute its up and running again.

i tried recycling the power on the modem but was not able to renew the ip lease. does this sound like a pc problem or the broadband connection problem?
