Cable Modem Router Question

I have a cablemodem account with two ip addresses. Right now I have two computers connected through a 10/100 switch. I have a third computer I would also like to connect. I want the first two to share an ip address either using ics (if all else fails, because I don't want any pc to depend on any other being up to connect) or a Cablemodem router (linksys 4 port). I want the last computer (Game Server) to have its own ip address. I want to try this, but before I go and buy the router I thought I would ask... Can I connect a cablemodem router to my 10/100 switch instead of to my cablemodem? I don't want all three to have internal ip address, just two... If this doesn't work what is a good way to do this (have a divided network, one behind a cablemodem router and not, all going to the same switch.

Most Cable/DSL routers are configurable enough to allow some pcs to share and IP address behind the firewall while others punch straight through the firewall. I know the DLink cable/dsl routers (700 series) work this way.

Sounds like it should work. In effect you game machine would connect thru the switch to the modem as would the linksys. The game server would get one address and the linksys would get the other. The other two machines would be on a private loop via the linksys and share access to the modem via NAT. Looks ok to me.......
