Cable modem lockups. Help!

I'm having a major problem with the cable modem. It takes place when running NewBin, which downloads binaries from the alt.binaries groups. In mid-download, my entire net connection dies. Doesn't matter which computer I run it on, it will kill the connection. Nothing brings it back and I have to restart the computer. MediaOne pinged my card during the lockup and said everything was fine on their end.

I recently nuked Win98 and reinstalled it fresh, and it still takes place. Any ideas?
