Cable modem headache.

I just got a cable modem yesterday.

Is it normal for a person to be able to surf freely at one time and then leave and come back only to not even be able to load the home page?

This has happened to me.

I am 100% sure the modem is installed correctly since it was done by a "professional"

Any good speed tweaks for broadband?

Your cable modem may not be aquired or stay aquired to the network. These are not problems caused by your system setup but a malfuntioning hardware problem in the network. Call up the tech support line and have them ping your modem and check to see if the signal to noise ratio is in spec.

That doesn't guarantee it. If you can connect sometimes, then the install was correct. The problem lies outside your computer. I would call @home and tell them what's the problem.

I don't have @home but I will call for some tech support on Monday
