Cable modem changing downstream frequency

My modem has been doing this for months and I just figured out what its doing sortof.

It has been resetting, internet drops connection for about 5-10 seconds and the lights on my modem are coming back on. Like if I was to unplug it and plug it back in almost but comes back quicker.

But I have realized now that when it does this it is changing its downstream frequency from 627.000 MHz to 621.000 MHz and back and forth between those two. It will do this mainly when I am playing a game. And mostly in Left4dead 2. At least a couple times every hour.

What would cause a modem to do this? Tech have been out countless times and the signals are fine. Modem has been replaced.

Anyone heard of this? And is there a way to force it to stay on one frequency?

probably poor signal or bad headend unit. see if your neighbors can correlate the same event (got open wifi?) lol.

arris is a great modem very high power with battery backup. if it was rebooting it would take minutes not 5-10 seconds to relock
