Cable Modem 2 PCs with 2 ips

Just a question for all you network buffs. I'm getting @home service and am going to get an extra IP for my other PC. Am I going to need a router of some sort that I plug the modem into and then it runs from teh router to the 2 pcs, or is there some other way that I can do it? Please let me know. Thanks!

not if u get 2 ips.. just hook up your cable modem to the hub or switch uplink port... and hook up the computer to the ports and there you go...

nope, no router needed. all you need is a hub. a thing to look out for though is if you plan on sharing files between the 2 boxes, you would want to do so over netbeui, you dont want to enable netbios over tcpip or everybody in the world could get in.
