I recently bought:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10240&cs_id=1024005&p_id=2742&seq=1&format=2

and
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10303&cs_id=1030312&p_id=6042&seq=1&format=2

from monoprice.

I went to install today, and it seems I can not get a signal over the 35ft HDMI? It was to be used to connect a PC to the TV but no go. I tried connecting cable box and xbox with it and there was no signal to the TV. That is a "normal" HDMI cable right? I mean I bought the right one didn't I?

As for the USB over ethernet, that doesn't seem to work either.
I tried with a factory made 3ft cat5 cable and it would not connect my USB stick or (the intended) USB pickup for KB/Mouse. I assume these should just use a standard cat5? Or should it be a straight through?

Ugh.... 0 for 2? Sucks. I need to get this PC outta the living room.

If you have a working HDMI connection, simply replace the cable with your long one, if it doesn't work you have a defective cable.

As for you USB adapter, try it with a known good Ethernet cable. The advertisement says it should work with cat 5 OR 6 so it should not make a difference.

Does the TV do anything when the cable is connected to to The TV and device?

Samsung will often change display message from looking for input to No input when it knows that a cable is connected but no signal is coming down.

My Panasonic will display the input name (e.g. HDMI1) when a device is connected regardless if the device is outputting and video.

Is this installed in the wall and if so did you test it outside the wall before installing it?

Are you going through a receiver? (you didn't mention one but you never know...)

I'm pretty much drawing a blank on the usb (Which bums me out as I was going to get one to put a netbook in the basement to run house audio at some point)

Is it reversed? are you sure it's in a powered usb? (grasping at straws...)

looked at the link, obviously not reversed. facepalm

One user reported needing a powered usb hub.

shoulda updated this I guess.

I tested the 35ft HDMI with 3 devices (PC, Uverse and 360). All 3 were "dead" to the TV (Samsung). While they were on, did a quick switch with a known working 6ft HDMI, and the TV saw the signal. Conversed with monoprice support, chalking it up to dead/bad cable. Will be replaced free of charge (replacement shipping today.... AWESOME support).

As for the USB over Ethernet. Ugh. took a different Ethernet cable (1st was working fine, in fact it was already being used from basement to TV room) plugged it into the 2 ends of the USB extender. Still no detection in windows (not WHS, WIn7 or WinXP). BUT I did get a USB device detection "beep" from all 3 OSes. So something was getting through now.

Tried a different USB device in the end this time... Logitech USB receiver instead of the MS receiver (2 different MS receivers I tried), and the Logitech one fired right up. Flawless. So not only was something wrong with the 1st Ethernet cable (though I plugged it right back into the router and Ethernet port on the PC and 100Mb link was up and running) but apparently MS receivers do not like to be used on a such a device. Logitech no problem though (and I tried a printer, and USB stick afterwards with no problem).

The KICKER here is I have USB hub laying around. Plugged that into the USB extender (added no AC to the hub) and the hub fired right up. Took the MS receiver and plugged that into the hub and it WORKED that way.... WTF?!?!? I have no idea.

Now if I could get my IR receiver working in WHS I'd be 100% set!
