Cable internet question

I have a subscription to cable tv w/a 4-way splitter outside.
My cable internet is hooked to a 2-way splitter...one line goes directly to my modem, the other line leads to the 4-way splitter, which in turn is distributed to the other tv sets in the house.
I'm moving my office to another room.
My question is, will my internet connection suffer since i'll need to hook another 2-way splitter in the room it's going into (1 to the modem, the other to the tv)?
Thanks.

I agree, I don't know why there would be a problem, guess you'll just have to hook it up and see.

I just wouldn't use a really cheap splitter, the ones from the cable company are pretty good so they say. I also have our phone through the internet to.

Yes, you will introduce anywhere from -2.5 to -3dB of loss. If your signal levels were near borderline then you could start seeing connection issues. Typically you want to stay between -8 & +8 on the downstream power level. The problem with moving the modem to a new room is that you are now going to be on a drop from the 4-way splitter.

If the levels are bad you can run a new drop from the first 2-way splitter to the location of the cable modem. Otherwise leave the cable modem where it's at now and run an ethernet cable to the other room and into a cable/dsl router. You may also want to consider wireless.
