Speed nonwithstanding, I save money with cable internet.

The cost of 2 dialup accounts plus 2 phone lines (for each primary computer in the house) is greater than the cost of cable internet.
It doesn't take a big brain to do the math. Plus, as we both need cell phones for our jobs anyway, with cable we can ditch our landline phone altogether. I figure that cable internet saves us in excess of $40 per month, plus we get 50 times the speed.
So, yeah, I'd say it's worth it.

I think cable internet would be worth it, if I could get cable internet. Where I live I'm lucky to get a phone :(

Have you considered a cable decoder box?

Widely available on the internet.
