Cable internet - is it worth it!?

I'm paying a little over $100 for cable tv and internet. this is ridiculous!!!
I spend more time online downloading "adult movies."
cable tv offers nothing but junk and i just watch the discovery channel, espn and local channels.
i figure if i axed the cable internet i would save about $20 a month going back to dial up.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

i think i should ... i spend 8 hours a day at work on the internet anyways. when i go home the last thing i want to do is get on the computer

Once you went broadband, you will never be happy going back to dial-up... you'll regret it...

You answered your own question. See, talking it out is a good thing.

We get cable internet and basic-basic television at home. I miss all the channels I used to watch (ESPN, Fox Sports, MTV, etc) but I've gotten used to what we're getting now.

Sign up for a dial up plan that gives you limited hours, maybe like AOL. its very cheap, and you get a set amount of hours each month that you can use.

I get a slight discount for having both cable and cable internet. I think it's only $5. Some people ask why I don't go DSL or dial-up... I'll stick with cable.

Don't get, it is not worth the extra money.

< Cable Internet user thinking of all the extra bandwidth that's available because you are going to be on dial-up. 🙂

between my cell phone plan, my dsl, my unlimited long distance verizon plan, my dish tv, and my wifes call's to korea, i think we spend $300 / month on these utilities alone.

killer.

yea ... my last cellphone bill was $290.

now i just called comcast and they told me i can bump down to analog cable and pay $61 for the basic crap w/ 2 HBO channels. I might do that instead of paying $72 for the digital plus 7 HBO channels. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

gf wants to watch sex and the city

I agree digital cable and a cable modem can be a bit much expense wise but I simply cannot imagine not having broadband. One of lifes little joys is multiplayer Battlefield 1942 😀 Not to mention no sitting around waiting for crap to download like the old days of my dial up connection.

$300 for the gas bill alone this month 🙁

HAhAHahhaHahaHhAHAHhAhahHAha yes. It's worth it. Think about all the pr0n money you are saving...

You can usually drop the TV service and keep the broadband. Wouldn't that save around $50/mo.

I tried going back to dial-up and it sucked. I got DSL for 6 months, but now I'm back on cable. I now get 2.9Mbps with RoadRunner's new faster service.

The cable company wants to sell you all the fluff at an outrageous price. They will not allow you to customize your own package.
Cut back on the cable TV options until you can no longer survive with what is available. Step up one level.

As others have stated, once you have broadband, there is no return acceptable to dial-up.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is just plain greedy and wants your slice of the bandwith pie.

I've got the solution to what ails you!

Step 1: Grab some tools and remove whatever cover is on the cable modem.
Step 2: Insert tongue into the innards of cable modem.
Step 3: Rinse and repeat.
