Cable Internet Availability

As it stands now, there are no broadband options for my home. Today, while I was surfing the comcast website (my cable provider) I noticed that high speed cable internet was finally available in my city. When I narrowed the availability down to my location however, it was no longer available. Is this correct? Can some parts of the city get cable internet and others can't? I understand why this happens for DSL, because of the COs, but what about cable internet?

My house wouldn't come up as having internet available. However, when I called them I was able to get it hooked up. Their website dbs might not be 100% accurate. This happened to me about 3 weeks ago.

I'm not saying that, but it seems if you can get digital cable, I don't see why you can't get internet. Give them a call. It should be only $24.99/month right now till the New Year.

They are probably doing what they did in my town...switching the Cable over from Analog to digital....I live on the weathy side of town and my was done first thing my brother lives on the poorer side of town and he had his done 8 months later...

Sure that's possible.

When the local cable provider here was laying down the fiber, cable internet became available as they finished various areas. They can't just magically make it all happen at once. 🙂

so if I can get Digital Cable, I can get high speed cable internet? or is the digital / analog you are referring to something different?

why not just call them up and find out if you can get it.

don't want to set my self up for rejection. I'm still crawling around on a 26.4 connection.

It will take you about 5 minutes to call 1-800-COMCAST and find out. But, I'd gamble if the website shows you can get digital cable, you'll probably be able to get internet.
