Cable Internet and Linksys Router Problem

I am having problems where, for no apparent reason at all, i start getting DNS address errors. Everything will be working perfectly, and then suddenly, nothing works. Wait a minute to several minutes, and everything is working just fine again. Sometimes when this happens, my straming audio still plays, but recently, that has been going down too. I was wondering if there is a setting in my router that could be affecting this? Could it be a bad patch cable between the router and modem? I called tech support, and not telling them I had a router, he determined that my computer was momentarily forgetting its IP address. Computers don't just forget addresses.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Anyone?? I'm begining to think it may be the router. I came home tonight, couldn't get anything to load, plugged the modem in directly, and everything works.
