Cable installation questions

The cable guy is coming tomorrow to do a two room install for digital cable and a cable modem installation. However, there is only one cable jack in the apartment located in the living room. Anyone have any idea on how he will handle this?

Depends on your apartment and the tech...

One install they ran it across the wall! Fugly cable hanging on my wall ticked me off, but free installation... So I just ripped it out and ran it myself under the baseboards.

Another one they ran under the carpet along the wall. Nice job done by a very attractive woman. (Mmmm... watching her crawling along my floor was the height of entertainment!)

Just decide how you want it run and tell the installer how you want to cables run through your apartment minendo, worked for me 🙂

Splitter.

They'll use those plastic shiets that'll hold the wire in the corners and such.

That's what they did in my house.

Sometimes they'll just drill a hole through the wall into the room and run the cable in from the outside.

Exactly what was done here. So half assed. Soon as I clean out the attic, I'm doing it the right way.

Why is that halfassed?

What other way is there to do it, if you're running a cable in from outside? 😕

I consider it half assed because they didn't insulate where they drilled, didn't bother to at least hide where the cable comes into the room and took a nice chunk out of the woodwork in the living room while they were drilling the hole. What I want to do is pull both lines from the rooms, run the incoming line up into the attic, split it in there then drop each connection down the walls into each room and have a wallplate in each wall.

sounds like a lot of unnecssary work.
