I'm looking into getting Comcast Digital Cable with HDTV - but rather than buying an HDTV, I want to use my Dell 2405 monitor (DVI inputs). Do I need to get a HDTV tuner, or what do I exactly need besides the Comcast box and the monitor?
If you use a box I think you might be limited to 720p over component, which still looks fine on the 2405fpw. I think the only other alternative if to buy an HDTV tuner card for pc but I can't help you much in that area.
I use my 2405fpw for TV and DVD's absolutely love it at five feet away (yes it's a bit akward having an ikea rest chair behind my pc chair...) but it's really a dream display when you do it right.
BTW I just use a regular TV tuner card (hauppage PVR150 something or other) with Dscaler and have it set so the aspect ratio fills the screen. I use TheaterTek with DVD's. Oh it also helps to have a remote. I have a reciever + Axiom M3Ti's for audio and a firefly remote to help me not get off my ass and have to fool around with the keyboard and mouse.
