Ok guys. We all came here for the same reason at one point. Hardware reviews.

I got a lot of wires. At my desk, next to it or under it is a desktop, laptop, speakers, PS4 pro, XIM Apex, USB Switch, FIOS box, Charging cables, 5 pairs of headphones, a DAC and a headphone AMP. The printer and laptop are on wifi, the PS4 and desktop are cabled in.

Tips or tricks on cable management? Is it just zip ties and velcro ties or is there more out there? Does this require drilling a hole into my desk? What are the secrets from cable management masters?

I just used some Gorilla Tape to secure a cable to the side of my PSU. I hope it keeps working.

I had decent cable management in my HT by using zipties to tie wires to the shelf I had everything on, but since then I've gotten quite a few more components and I've gotten lazy about it since it takes time/effort to add new equipment. A new console generation has come since then and I've gotten a new bluray player, so it's a lot of new things. And with PSVR being wired up and having to be loose so I can use it, I just don't really care that much anymore. It's in a closet anyways.

Try to arrange them so that when dust accumulates (and it will) you are able to get a vacuum in without destroying everything.

And Velcro isn't quite as strong but will make moving things around easier.

I've re-attached body panels to my car with Gorilla tape... you'll be fine.

Im anti zip tie unless it's something that's outside or basically permanent. Trying to remove them at weird angles and behind things is such a pain in the ass.

You'll want a cable box to hide your power strip and wires.

Just check out the customer before and after pics! It's pricey, although there are cheaper knock offs.

You may also want cable sleeves.

Fairly cheap. Reversible to black or white depending on what you're laying them against. Can be cut to any length you require.

Velcro ties and/or adhesive clips are also likely a must. They're pretty cheap.

I personally don't have a lot to spend and eagerly snatched this bundle up for $20 that came with a bit of everything, sadly it is not available atm.

Could keep an eye on it however, should it come back in stock.

I like the look of draping cables behind the table. In any case, I can't help you here, so sorry.

I have 1000 zipties that I got like 20 years ago for cable management. I haven't had the time, energy, or effort to start that project, and I have moved twice since buying them. (in 2004 & 2008 I moved)

note: I didn't mean my post as a jab at those who are organized and have good cable management, more or less just was putting a magnifying glass over my own shortcoming

If your table/load bearing structure is thin enough, these aren't the worst thing in the world:

Otherwise, Velcro straps forever. Millions of them. Make your own computer desk out of them.

I like to use split corrugated wire looms, especially if the wires are going all the way from one end to the other end. You can also just use a pair of diagonal cutters to make a small notch, if one cable needs to come out somewhere along the way. It is better to keep power wires away from USB or Speaker / Audio connections. Behind my desk, I figure out how long the keyboard, mouse receiver or wired mouse cable need to be, then fold them and use small zip ties. Same for USB cable to the USB Hub and External Hard Drive and for my monitor's small AC Power Brick to feed the monitor.
