Cable couldn't get online

My notebook couldn't recognize the signal from a cable modem and get online while other notebook can. Is there any way to fool around with the Lan setting to get online? Btw it has Winxp sp2.
 
no, the cable modem service registers the MAC address of the NIC that set up the account, only it will work, if you want to make another machine the primary you will have to have it re-provisioned by the cable company. Your only other option is to get a router and have it clone the MAC address of the 1st machine and have everything go through the router
