Cable Broadband Problem

I am using ATT Cable Broadband, and I have a Linksys 4 ports router (BEFSR41) and a Linksys Cable Modem.

I been using it for almost 9 months without a problem, and I never turn off my cable modem and router. There's one time I left the country and left my server running, the server was still running even when I come back after 4 weeks.

Anyway, lately, all of the sudden, my Internet connection will drop, but the LAN part is still working. To get my Internet connection back, I have to shut off my router and modem for around 10 minutes, and then turn it back on, then it works. The reason why I turn the modem and router both together, because they're on the same surge protector. Should I try to turn each one off, and see which one is causing the problem? Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone experience this problem?

btw: This happen after I upgraded my fireware for the Linksys router. I don't know if it's the router that's causing the problem or there's is some other factors. Advise is needed! thanks!

I am not sure if I have a similar problem or not, but recently (in the last one to two weeks), I am starting to experience on and off connection from my linksys modem + linksys router. (I will be surfing the web perfectly for 5 mins, then I will lose my connection for like a couple minutes, then, without doing anything, the connection will come back again for another 5-10min)

I didn't change anything, including the filmware, and it was working perfectly 2 weeks ago. I have notice this happened just a little after comcast took over ATT's broadband.

Have been wondering what the problem is? could it be comcast?

Normally, i would assume the cable modem is the problem b4 the router, so I am tempted to go and get another cable modem to see if it's because my hardware simply wear out and broke. Anyone have similar experience?

If your lights are ok on the modem, disconnecting the gateway/switch 1 minute (from the gateway, not necessary from the wall) reconnect. It happen to me twice a week. D-Link DI-704P, DWL 900AP, cable modem Motorola, Adelphia cable.

My situation is different, if I leave my router and modem on, my Internet will not go back automatically. Because once, I left it on for 2 days, but my Internet connection is still gone, however, once I restarted my router and modem, then Internet connection came back.

aahhh, this is driving me nuts. I have a feeling is my router, but I can't proof it. :(
