I'm helping a friend put together a HTPC setup and after having a problem locking ClearQAM signals we've deduced that his cable signal going to his tuner is too weak after all of the splitting. So we need a cable amplifier, and that's about the sum of my knowledge right there. What is a good cable amplifier these days?

I bought a powered one from Radio Shack. Works pretty well...

Try and get a distribution amplifier, if you can, and put it before the splits.

A lot of the newer ones won't effect cable modems, either.

I picked one up at Menards for around $40 bucks. Can't remember the brand name, but it was in the home automation section . . .

Alright, I hadn't considered that but that's a good idea. What does everyone think of the Channel Master 4-way amp?
