cabbage and hot peppers--what is it?

It's cabbage, I think steamed, with hot peppers, maybe some kind of oil and vinegar in there.

The two restaurants I've had it at did not have waitresses with good enough english to understand what I was asking. Does anyone know the english (romanized) name for this, or just how to make it?

hot peppers with cabbage.

probably kimchi actually. you can buy it in asian food markets. ask around.

Kimchi looks like it! Thanks.

I thought it could have been steamed because it was crunchy, but being cold, I wasn't sure. At both places I've had it, it looked almost exactly like the pic at Wikipedia for kimchi, just a tad less yellow.

Kimchi is sort of like wine. It has to age just the right amount to taste good. Some of the best Kimchi I've had in the states comes from Dallas.

FYI, kimchi is Korean.

How to make it? Good luck. I saw my mom making it and it takes years and years to make it taste great.
